Good Times

Good morning! This week has been quality. So many different things happened. I love people and I love Jesus Christ, so I have the perfect job! I'm having a hard time deciding what to write about... I'll tell you the highlights of this week.
1. Gene gave us cake and ice cream! I was so happy. It was yummy. I love meeting with him. We shared a talk by President Nelson, which was a big step for him. He is so humble and really wanting to learn, just taking it slow. He is such an example to me of following Christ. He has a cross collection and reads the scriptures every night. He sends scriptures to all his friends and puts in on facebook. I wanted to always stay truly committed to Jesus Christ.
2. We had a Book of Mormon study with Alyssa! Okay, I LOVE Alyssa. She is 26 and so fun to talk to and be around. She knows a lot about the gospel and has so many questions. She is really interested in learning, and we had good talks. I'm excited to keep meeting with her and hopefully bringing the Spirit with us more so she can feel the truthfulness of our message rather than just gaining knowledge.
3. Grandpa fed us lunch. Have I told you about Grandpa? He is so dear. He's the one that gives us so much candy all the time. His life goal is to feed the missionaries and go to the temple as often as possible. I want to serve like that.
4. I'm on a mission on purpose. I'm really working on being intentional in my missionary work. It rained for two days straight this week. And during those days, we had a lot of lessons and appointments and whatnot fall through. Twas rough. During that time, I thought a lot about why I'm here and was really able to recommit to my mission and to being a disciple of Jesus Christ. I love Jesus Christ and believe His gospel with all my heart. It makes me so happy. That is why I'm here. I want to share that peace and hope with people.
5. We were able to meet with lots of cool people this week, members and nonmembers. I learn so much from their stories and their love. Members have been so willing to help us with missionary work which is awesome. They also spoil us--feeding us all the time and giving us food. We came home from church Sunday with 24 eggs and a bag of sugar cookies. Harrison is awesome!
I miss y'all! Email me @ liberty.johnson@missionary.org.
Love you,
Sister Liberty Johnson :)

It's Good to be Home

Missions are hard. You give your whole self every single day for a long time. You have to do scary things like talk to people you don't really know and have major changes in your life every 6 weeks and tedious things like create workshops plan. Yesterday, Sister Maxfield and I were both hangry and trying to plan a lesson and just started laughing at ourselves cause we were struggling so hard! But there are also times of complete, full joy that I can't even describe that makes everything else so worth it.  Cindy got baptized Saturday morning, and it was one of the most wonderful things I've ever been a part of. She's gone through a lot to get to where she is now and has a lot of hard things yet to come, but she is truly converted to Jesus Christ and cares more about following Him then anything else. There is such a light about her! After the baptism, she said she felt this weight lifted off her that she didn't even know was there. In church, she bore her testim...

Member Work Works

Guys, let me tell you about my week. God is a God of miracles. He leads us to people we can help or leads them to us, and it is humbling to watch. We started teaching 4 people this week, all through their member friends. Aw, it makes my heart happy.  Last Sunday in ward council, our ward was all excited about a lady named Helen. She had just moved in and used to meet with missionaries in the past. We knew nothing about her, so we talked to some other sisters and Buck was a hero and got us on a video call with past missionaries and friends that met with her before. One of her member friends set up an appointment for us, and we went over to meet her. She is really sweet and says she wants to get baptized but isn't ready to commit to anything. But God's hand was definitely in all of this because Helen just moved in with her niece Michele. Michele is going through a lot-- way a lot. She is a strong women. We started talking and connected hard. The Spirit was there. She said sh...

Ag Girl!

Hello! How are y'all? This week I went back to my agricultural roots. And let me tell you, I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life.  First, I'm coaching the Harrison FFA Meats team, and we had our first practice this week. I've spent lots of time sorting through piles of old tests from past FFA advisers, finding meat ID quizlets, and asking Mr. Noorda so many questions. And so far, it's going incredibly well. :) I have a team of 3 guys and they seem quite dedicated. They're going to memorize all the beef ID by Tuesday. Second, I harvested chickens. This incredible couple has chickens, and last time we were at their house, they were showing us how they harvest them, and Sister Kershaw was like, "Can we try?" So, we went over this week ready. I cut a chicken's throat and helped pluck them. I felt very triumphant.  In other news, business is booming. We have been so busy! Pretty much the same things as always, so not too ...
