We've been working with this dear lady for months. She's a
member but hasn't gone to church in years. Last week we met her son, and he is
so open. He loves Jesus Christ and His gospel and is an honest seeker of truth.
We were teaching them about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and
how the fulness of the gospel is in the Book of Mormon, and we promised them
that as they read the Book of Mormon it would sharpen their minds and the
Spirit would help them know the book is true and from God. Those promises are
being fulfilled! They're both reading in the Book of Mormon every day. She came
to church yesterday and was just beaming.
Yesterday, we met with another lady in our ward who I LOVE.
She hasn't gone to church in years and just gets so down on herself. Memories
from her past and mistakes she makes every day haunt her and make her feel not
enough. I was overwhelmed with love for her from me and from Jesus Christ, whom
I represent. We shared 2 Nephi 4 with her, where Nephi faces very similar
issues. His dad just died, and he is so discouraged by his weakness and the
mistakes he makes. But he finds comfort in the Lord. It's amazing how well the
Book of Mormon applies to our lives today.
Funny story, this one lady we work with is a character. So
good. Anyway, she's not one to pray much, but she has been praying for Biden to
win the election. She was so excited to have a prayer answered.
But we had such a great lesson with her. She is scared to
die, and she's not the type to be scared of anything. We told her about God's
plan for us: that we lived with Him before we came here, the purpose of life,
what will happen after we die, and how Christ makes it all possible. It brought
a lot of comfort and peace. I used little tiles to teach it, and she said if
she'd frame them and put it up on her wall so she can look at it whenever she
needs reassurance.
Y'all, God is SO good. His plan is perfect, His love is
infinite, and His word changes lives. Trust Him.
