Sacred Things

Hello, hello! This week has been crazy busy, but way good. I went to Harrison (my home)! I love that place, and the sisters there are incredible. We have been doing a ton of service and meeting new people, and just going hard. With so much going on, it's easy for me to feel so busy and pretty stressed. I was reading in Alma 37 this week, and a verse really touched my heart. It said, "Remember... that God has entrusted you with these things, which are sacred." The Spirit hit me hard, and I remembered how sacred what I do really is. This is God's work. My whole purpose is to help people come closer to Christ. And the people I am entrusted with are amazing! Such a sacred responsibility. I have felt this sacredness a couple times this week. One was Tuesday. My friend Cassidy got baptized! She has been meeting with other missionaries but has started coming to church with my congregation. And she just glows. Seeing her take this step to promise to follow Jesus Christ filled me with such joy! Then, yesterday, I was able to go to church in a family's home with my friend Juan. He is a member of the church, but he hasn't been in a long time. But he missed taking the sacrament. The family had little kids, and a lot was going on, but I saw Juan wiping away tears as he partook of the sacrament. And, again, I remembered how sacred it is to help people come towards Christ.

Alma 37 goes on to talk about how important it is to keep these things sacred and that if you don't, they will be taken away. Then, in verse 16, it says, "But if ye keep the commandments of God, and do with these things which are sacred according to that which the Lord doth command you, (for you must appeal unto the Lord for all things whatsoever ye must do with them) behold, no power of earth or hell can take them from you, for God is powerful to the fulfilling of all his words." I have seen this this week. Y'all, I am not enough for this job. The magnitude of it is crazy. I'm going hard, but I'm weak and make so many mistakes and do not have the capacity to do all that is required of me. Just like this scripture says, I have been asking the Lord for help a LOT. And He has given it. Guys, He is dumping blessings on us. Like, we just moved into our apartment and so we bought a lot of things for it and now have no money... and this nice couple we do service for and a couple in our ward gave us a TON of food. We were having a crazy day, and Brother Hansen, our ward mission leader, was incredibly helpful at our meeting with him and gave us cookies. We came out, and Sister Hess was like, "We should have MCM (Mission Correlation Meeting) every day!" Everyday we have way too many things to do than we can actually do, and somehow it works out!

Miracles are real. God asks us to take care of sacred things, and then He helps us to do so. He listens to our prayers and always keeps His promises.

I love you all!! Email me at liberty.johnson@missionary.org. Also, I definitely gave you my wrong address last time. It's apartment C 206. :)

LOVE,
Sister Liberty Johnson

It's Good to be Home

Missions are hard. You give your whole self every single day for a long time. You have to do scary things like talk to people you don't really know and have major changes in your life every 6 weeks and tedious things like create workshops plan. Yesterday, Sister Maxfield and I were both hangry and trying to plan a lesson and just started laughing at ourselves cause we were struggling so hard! But there are also times of complete, full joy that I can't even describe that makes everything else so worth it.  Cindy got baptized Saturday morning, and it was one of the most wonderful things I've ever been a part of. She's gone through a lot to get to where she is now and has a lot of hard things yet to come, but she is truly converted to Jesus Christ and cares more about following Him then anything else. There is such a light about her! After the baptism, she said she felt this weight lifted off her that she didn't even know was there. In church, she bore her testim...

Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone! I hope y'all had an incredible Christmas. I did. It was definitely weird not be home and for there to be no snow on Christmas, but this week was awesome. First, the funniest, strangest thing that I have ever experienced happened this week. On Christmas Eve, we were going around delivering Christmas cookies to some of our friends. About a month ago we met this dear old lady named Marcie, and we decided to take some cookies to her. Sister Johnson has incredibly good intentions, but she is also new to this whole driving in Harrison, AR thing and is terrible at directions. So, we go up to knock on the door, and this old man walks out. We ask if Marcie is there, and he looks really confused and says, "My wife?" We're like, yeah. So we go in, talk to this old guy we don't know. I'm confused at this point because I was pretty sure Marcie didn't have a husband. Then, this old lady (the guy's wife) comes in, and she is definitely  not  Marci...

Merry Christmas! (Almost)

MERRY CHRISTMAS (almost)! ❄❄❄ What a beautiful week. The highlight by far was our lesson with Cindy. Aww, I LOVE her! It's kinda crazy we've only known each other for a month-- I'm sure we'll be friends for life. Sister Beasley was visiting for the day, and we taught Cindy the plan of salvation. We asked her what she thinks her purpose in life is, and she said it is to know God and help others know God. Wow. It's amazing how simple the God's plan is-- all we need to do is bring Christ into our life through faith, repentance, baptism, the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end, and we can do exactly that. I know God loves Cindy so much and wants her to live with Him forever. She wants that too. I asked if she wants to be baptized, and she said YES!!! WOOHOO!!! I am so excited for her.  I love celebrating Christ's birth this Christmas season. He is who makes second chances and knowing God and this whole plan possible.  Merry Christmas!! Have so much fun c...
