Examples of Faith

Guys. So much happened this week, it's crazy! I got to spend a lot of time with different missionaries this week, and I wanted to tell you about what I learned from them. :)
1. Sister Carter. We had exchanges Wednesday, which means I switched companions for a day. And I got Sister Carter!! My goodness, I learned a lot. She has so much power. She said things that just blew my mind. And when she says things, you feel the power of it. I was telling her how impressed I was with something she said after a lesson, and she said, "It wasn't my words." How cool that she recognized where her power comes from. The Spirit is able to work through her. She helped me to think about how often that happens to me. So many times, I'll say things in a lesson or talking with someone that is what they needed and that I wouldn't know to say on my own. The Lord is able to work through us as we have faith in Him.
2. Sister Thacker. We had a meeting with a ton of other missionaries on Thursday. Elder Ochoa of the Seventy spoke to us. Let me tell you, it was incredible. He asked us all why we were on missions. People gave lots of nice answers like serving people, helping people to know Christ better, helping people feel loved. Elder Ochoa was like, that's great, but what are you missing? Then President Strong told some incredible stories. One of them was about this guy who got into a gang when he was young and had a wild, really hard life. After getting out of prison, he decided he needed to find God. And so he met with missionaries. President Strong described to us the transformation this man made. The day of his baptism, he exuded peace and a feeling that God was pleased with him, something he had never felt before. He was baptized, promising that he would follow Christ forever. We have the greatest message in the whole world! The gospel of Jesus Christ has the power to change people's lives. We can't settle for just helping people feel good. We can help them repent and change and make promises with God!! It was a fire meeting. Anyway, his talk was very hardcore. And a little bit hard to hear. We need to change our whole focus to help people make these changes! I was so impressed with how Sister Thacker responded to this. She only has 10 days left on her mission. 10 DAYS!!! But she has faith that Elder Ochoa is called of God, and she is acting on his council. She is asking a lot of people she's teaching if they want to be baptized. That's scary. But she has already seen incredible results of people accepting her invitation and making the changes in their life to be ready for that promise with God. I learned in my study that faith is manifest by diligence and work. I want to be able to put into action the things I have faith in like Sister Thacker is.
3. Sister Kershaw. Wow, I LOVE Sister Kershaw. We have transfers in 10 days. Not excited. I'm for sure staying here in Harrison (the promised land) cause I'm helping coach FFA at the high school. But Sister Kershaw might leave! We gave transfer input to our leaders, telling them what we think would be best for us and for Harrison. I was very clear in what I wanted. Sister Kershaw wants to stay in Harrison possibly more than I want her to stay. But her input was that she would go wherever the Lord wanted her. I was very impressed. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path." I want to be able to trust in the Lord like that. I tend to get caught up in my understanding, when the Lord knows way more than I do.

I love y'all so much!!! Miss you. Email me at liberty.johnson@missionary.org.
Love,
Sister Johnson

Pictures: we went on such a fun hike and saw the famous Buffalo River! Not pictured, but we got rootbeer floats afterwards. Blessings.

It's Good to be Home

Missions are hard. You give your whole self every single day for a long time. You have to do scary things like talk to people you don't really know and have major changes in your life every 6 weeks and tedious things like create workshops plan. Yesterday, Sister Maxfield and I were both hangry and trying to plan a lesson and just started laughing at ourselves cause we were struggling so hard! But there are also times of complete, full joy that I can't even describe that makes everything else so worth it.  Cindy got baptized Saturday morning, and it was one of the most wonderful things I've ever been a part of. She's gone through a lot to get to where she is now and has a lot of hard things yet to come, but she is truly converted to Jesus Christ and cares more about following Him then anything else. There is such a light about her! After the baptism, she said she felt this weight lifted off her that she didn't even know was there. In church, she bore her testim...

Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone! I hope y'all had an incredible Christmas. I did. It was definitely weird not be home and for there to be no snow on Christmas, but this week was awesome. First, the funniest, strangest thing that I have ever experienced happened this week. On Christmas Eve, we were going around delivering Christmas cookies to some of our friends. About a month ago we met this dear old lady named Marcie, and we decided to take some cookies to her. Sister Johnson has incredibly good intentions, but she is also new to this whole driving in Harrison, AR thing and is terrible at directions. So, we go up to knock on the door, and this old man walks out. We ask if Marcie is there, and he looks really confused and says, "My wife?" We're like, yeah. So we go in, talk to this old guy we don't know. I'm confused at this point because I was pretty sure Marcie didn't have a husband. Then, this old lady (the guy's wife) comes in, and she is definitely  not  Marci...

Merry Christmas! (Almost)

MERRY CHRISTMAS (almost)! ❄❄❄ What a beautiful week. The highlight by far was our lesson with Cindy. Aww, I LOVE her! It's kinda crazy we've only known each other for a month-- I'm sure we'll be friends for life. Sister Beasley was visiting for the day, and we taught Cindy the plan of salvation. We asked her what she thinks her purpose in life is, and she said it is to know God and help others know God. Wow. It's amazing how simple the God's plan is-- all we need to do is bring Christ into our life through faith, repentance, baptism, the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end, and we can do exactly that. I know God loves Cindy so much and wants her to live with Him forever. She wants that too. I asked if she wants to be baptized, and she said YES!!! WOOHOO!!! I am so excited for her.  I love celebrating Christ's birth this Christmas season. He is who makes second chances and knowing God and this whole plan possible.  Merry Christmas!! Have so much fun c...
