Sister Missionary Johnson

Good morning! I miss y'all.
So, funny story. I spoke in church this Sunday. It went pretty well, but apparently the microphone was broken, so no one could actually hear me which was unfortunate. But, the funny thing was that on the program, it had my name as "Sister Missionary Johnson." It's a powerful feeling to have your name be missionary. :D I love being a missionary, but it is a lot different than I expected. So, I'm going to tell you some of my duties as Sister Missionary Johnson.
1. Spider killer
Sister Brown, my perfect companion, is such a city girl. And so, I am the designated spider killer. We actually have a lot of them. :/ I am quite fearless though, so no worries. I'll send a picture.
2. Pallet painter
We got to go to a wedding this week!! This awesome couple we have been teaching got married, and it was so happy. Such a beautiful wedding. Loving them and loving to serve people as we do, we offered to help. They responded by asking if we know how to sew. So, we show up to help, ready to sew, and instead we whitewash pallets. I was in my normal missionary attire and got paint all over my shoes and my skirt, but it was great fun. And the paint came out of my clothes super well. :) The pallets were beautiful at the wedding, so I was very proud.
3. Bearer of the best news
The best part about being Sister Missionary Johnson is the incredible news I get to share with people. The news is this: "God is your Father and loves you SO MUCH! Because He loves you so much, He wants you to be happy and return to live with Him. This is called the gospel of Jesus Christ." It's a great message. A really happy one. Unfortunately, not many people will let us give it to them. We went finding a lot this week, and the funniest things happened. Tracting, we knocked on a door, and this old guy opens it. We say hi, and then he says "I think someone is napping" and shuts the door. It was really sad for us and for him because now he doesn't get to hear our awesome message. It was so funny though. So now randomly Sister Brown and I will say to each other "I hate it when I think someone is napping." And the other will say, "I know. It ruins all the fun." And then we'll laugh and laugh. Being a missionary is great fun. :)
4. Glue chipper
I get to do a ton of service as a missionary which is so fun. I love it. We do about 10 hours of more organized service every week. But we also get lots of chances to serve those around us spontaneously. A dear lady we visit got paintings from her granddaughter that she wanted to hang up. We offered to help her last week, but she said she didn't know where she wanted them yet. When we came this week, they were hung up but crookedly. She explained to us that she decided to do it on her own. They weren't staying where she wanted them to, so she glued them to the wall with gorilla glue. So funny. She left a streak of the glue on the wall, so I stood on a chair and chipped the glue away. I love being Sister Missionary Johnson.
5. Recipient of miracles
God is a God of miracles. I have never seen this more than on my mission. I see it in the lives of people we teach and serve with. I see it as I
get to know members and see the good they are doing. I see it in changes I make in myself. This week, I was able to see a very physical miracle. So, I got quite confused last week with my money. We thought we would get more money for groceries before we went shopping Monday, but we didn't. And I was super out of both money and food. So, we used personal money to get necessities. This week was incredible. We got fed so much, and so many people gave us food. We ended the week with more food then we started with. The Lord takes care of us.

There are so many awesome parts about being Sister Missionary Johnson. I love being able to serve Jesus Christ and those around me all the time. I learned so much this week, it was crazy. I love you all and miss you. Email me at liberty.johnson@missionary.org.

Much love,

Sister Johnson

It's Good to be Home

Missions are hard. You give your whole self every single day for a long time. You have to do scary things like talk to people you don't really know and have major changes in your life every 6 weeks and tedious things like create workshops plan. Yesterday, Sister Maxfield and I were both hangry and trying to plan a lesson and just started laughing at ourselves cause we were struggling so hard! But there are also times of complete, full joy that I can't even describe that makes everything else so worth it.  Cindy got baptized Saturday morning, and it was one of the most wonderful things I've ever been a part of. She's gone through a lot to get to where she is now and has a lot of hard things yet to come, but she is truly converted to Jesus Christ and cares more about following Him then anything else. There is such a light about her! After the baptism, she said she felt this weight lifted off her that she didn't even know was there. In church, she bore her testim...

Merry Christmas!

Hi everyone! I hope y'all had an incredible Christmas. I did. It was definitely weird not be home and for there to be no snow on Christmas, but this week was awesome. First, the funniest, strangest thing that I have ever experienced happened this week. On Christmas Eve, we were going around delivering Christmas cookies to some of our friends. About a month ago we met this dear old lady named Marcie, and we decided to take some cookies to her. Sister Johnson has incredibly good intentions, but she is also new to this whole driving in Harrison, AR thing and is terrible at directions. So, we go up to knock on the door, and this old man walks out. We ask if Marcie is there, and he looks really confused and says, "My wife?" We're like, yeah. So we go in, talk to this old guy we don't know. I'm confused at this point because I was pretty sure Marcie didn't have a husband. Then, this old lady (the guy's wife) comes in, and she is definitely  not  Marci...

Merry Christmas! (Almost)

MERRY CHRISTMAS (almost)! ❄❄❄ What a beautiful week. The highlight by far was our lesson with Cindy. Aww, I LOVE her! It's kinda crazy we've only known each other for a month-- I'm sure we'll be friends for life. Sister Beasley was visiting for the day, and we taught Cindy the plan of salvation. We asked her what she thinks her purpose in life is, and she said it is to know God and help others know God. Wow. It's amazing how simple the God's plan is-- all we need to do is bring Christ into our life through faith, repentance, baptism, the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end, and we can do exactly that. I know God loves Cindy so much and wants her to live with Him forever. She wants that too. I asked if she wants to be baptized, and she said YES!!! WOOHOO!!! I am so excited for her.  I love celebrating Christ's birth this Christmas season. He is who makes second chances and knowing God and this whole plan possible.  Merry Christmas!! Have so much fun c...
