A Great and Marvelous Work

Lately I've been studying in the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Lord keeps calling the work I'm a part of great and marvelous. Great means important, big, and out of the ordinary. Marvelous means miraculous. I have seen that on my mission and in this week. I can feel that I'm part of something bigger than myself that is so important and miraculous.

God is so good-- I can't even explain! So many tender mercies this week and legit miracles. I'll try to be quick and tell you about as many as I can.

Joanna and Beverly

We've done service for Joanna a few times before. My first time there, I asked if she wanted to meet with us and learn more about the church. She said no... but for some reason I was not convinced. She keeps talking about hard things going on in her life and that she's looking for hope. I went to visit her with Sister Hess this week to play a song on the violin. We got to talk to her and her mom, Beverly, and they are so sweet! Sister Hess was hecka bold and asked if they had ever read in the Book of Mormon before. They said a little bit, and they said they'd like to study the Book of Mormon with us! We're going back next Saturday, and I am so, so excited to work with them.

Akeem

Akeem isn't even in my area, but I met him on exchanges in Fayetteville YSA. And he is COOL. He's from Brazil and had met with missionaries in the past, but it hadn't gone anywhere. Now he's meeting with the sisters there and just eating it up. He has incredible insights. We taught him about how the church Christ established when He was on the earth has been restored to the earth again. He said it made a lot of sense. His openness and desire to learn taught me a lot.

Val

I really enjoy meeting with Val. I taught him with Sister Salmons this week, and it went so well. It's amazing how God puts people where He needs them to bless His children. Exchanges always teach me that. Anyway, we talked about the purpose of life on earth and Christ's role in helping us return to God. He is interested in the gospel of Jesus Christ and is going to study it more this week. He enjoyed church again on Sunday, and the ward was so good. So many people talked to him and were so nice.

Nancy and Junior

It's incredible to see God's hands in people's lives. Nancy joined the church in 2012 but hasn't been to church in a while. We had no contact with her, but she was at work, and the missionaries in Bella Vista started talking to her, discovered she's a member, and gave her our number. Nancy didn't call us. BUT, I've been sending videos to people in the area seeing if they want to hear messages about God's love, and I sent a video to Nancy! She responded and asked when church was. She came to church AND brought her husband Junior. We're going to start working with both of them!

Kari and Dennis

We met Kari a few weeks ago, but she had to quarantine, so we couldn't meet with us for a while. She finally got out and came to church on Sunday!! She told us she woke up at 4:30 that morning and couldn't go back to sleep cause she was so excited to go to church. She also brought her boyfriend, Dennis to church. They both want to meet with us.

Sorry this was long. I am just full of gratitude for God's goodness in letting me be a part of this great and marvelous work.

Love you all!

It's Good to be Home

Missions are hard. You give your whole self every single day for a long time. You have to do scary things like talk to people you don't really know and have major changes in your life every 6 weeks and tedious things like create workshops plan. Yesterday, Sister Maxfield and I were both hangry and trying to plan a lesson and just started laughing at ourselves cause we were struggling so hard! But there are also times of complete, full joy that I can't even describe that makes everything else so worth it.  Cindy got baptized Saturday morning, and it was one of the most wonderful things I've ever been a part of. She's gone through a lot to get to where she is now and has a lot of hard things yet to come, but she is truly converted to Jesus Christ and cares more about following Him then anything else. There is such a light about her! After the baptism, she said she felt this weight lifted off her that she didn't even know was there. In church, she bore her testim...

Member Work Works

Guys, let me tell you about my week. God is a God of miracles. He leads us to people we can help or leads them to us, and it is humbling to watch. We started teaching 4 people this week, all through their member friends. Aw, it makes my heart happy.  Last Sunday in ward council, our ward was all excited about a lady named Helen. She had just moved in and used to meet with missionaries in the past. We knew nothing about her, so we talked to some other sisters and Buck was a hero and got us on a video call with past missionaries and friends that met with her before. One of her member friends set up an appointment for us, and we went over to meet her. She is really sweet and says she wants to get baptized but isn't ready to commit to anything. But God's hand was definitely in all of this because Helen just moved in with her niece Michele. Michele is going through a lot-- way a lot. She is a strong women. We started talking and connected hard. The Spirit was there. She said sh...

God's Not Done with You

I hope you are all doing well through this crazy time. You're in my thoughts and prayers.  This week I discovered the new theme song for my life. It's called God's Not Done with You by Tauren Wells. This is a very "dynamic time" (as my mission president says). Everyone is being affected in drastic ways! But I know that God is not done with you. His work is not slowing down, and your role in it isn't either. One of my sisters shared a quote with me this week that helped me to understand this.  "The standard of truth has been erected. No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing; persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth boldly, nobly, and independent till it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country, and sounded in every ear, till the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the great Jehovah shall say the work is done."   ...
