Seeing God's Hand

Hello, hello! What a week it has been! Guys, I LOVE being a missionary. It's my favorite thing I've ever done. So many things work out so perfect that I can't help but see God's hand in it.

Here's an example. Wednesday night, we were in charge of the young women's activity. We planned human foosball in the church parking lot. We were SO excited and invited everyone we know. But we were also a little stressed cause all of a sudden this week got COLD. It doesn't rain like this in Nevada. Ever. And the humidity. It's freezing. Wednesday night was so nice. Perfect weather, I didn't even wear a jacket and the activity was such a success.

Thursday night we had a relief society party. It was really fun. I'm a big fan of parties. 😁 I sat by the nicest lady that I'd never met before. She's a member. We got talking, and she told me that she lives with her sister who isn't a member and used to meet with missionaries. I knew the sisters name cause she was in old teaching records, and I've tried to get ahold of her so many times. And this sister said we could come over and visit with both of them!!

Okay, last story. We had our first lesson with our friend Gloria. She is deaf and one of the coolest people I've ever met. She is really looking for something more and she has such a sweet spirit. We are trusting that God's hand will continue to be in our journey with her because I definitely do not speak ASL. (I'm working on it though, don't worry.) It brings teaching simply to a whole new level when everything you say you write on a white board. :) The miracle was how strong the Spirit was there even with our communication barriers.

Y'all are awesome. Look for God's hand in your life cause I know it's there. LOVE YOU!

It's Good to be Home

Missions are hard. You give your whole self every single day for a long time. You have to do scary things like talk to people you don't really know and have major changes in your life every 6 weeks and tedious things like create workshops plan. Yesterday, Sister Maxfield and I were both hangry and trying to plan a lesson and just started laughing at ourselves cause we were struggling so hard! But there are also times of complete, full joy that I can't even describe that makes everything else so worth it.  Cindy got baptized Saturday morning, and it was one of the most wonderful things I've ever been a part of. She's gone through a lot to get to where she is now and has a lot of hard things yet to come, but she is truly converted to Jesus Christ and cares more about following Him then anything else. There is such a light about her! After the baptism, she said she felt this weight lifted off her that she didn't even know was there. In church, she bore her testim...

Member Work Works

Guys, let me tell you about my week. God is a God of miracles. He leads us to people we can help or leads them to us, and it is humbling to watch. We started teaching 4 people this week, all through their member friends. Aw, it makes my heart happy.  Last Sunday in ward council, our ward was all excited about a lady named Helen. She had just moved in and used to meet with missionaries in the past. We knew nothing about her, so we talked to some other sisters and Buck was a hero and got us on a video call with past missionaries and friends that met with her before. One of her member friends set up an appointment for us, and we went over to meet her. She is really sweet and says she wants to get baptized but isn't ready to commit to anything. But God's hand was definitely in all of this because Helen just moved in with her niece Michele. Michele is going through a lot-- way a lot. She is a strong women. We started talking and connected hard. The Spirit was there. She said sh...

Ag Girl!

Hello! How are y'all? This week I went back to my agricultural roots. And let me tell you, I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life.  First, I'm coaching the Harrison FFA Meats team, and we had our first practice this week. I've spent lots of time sorting through piles of old tests from past FFA advisers, finding meat ID quizlets, and asking Mr. Noorda so many questions. And so far, it's going incredibly well. :) I have a team of 3 guys and they seem quite dedicated. They're going to memorize all the beef ID by Tuesday. Second, I harvested chickens. This incredible couple has chickens, and last time we were at their house, they were showing us how they harvest them, and Sister Kershaw was like, "Can we try?" So, we went over this week ready. I cut a chicken's throat and helped pluck them. I felt very triumphant.  In other news, business is booming. We have been so busy! Pretty much the same things as always, so not too ...
