A Great and Marvelous Work

Lately I've been studying in the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Lord keeps calling the work I'm a part of great and marvelous. Great means important, big, and out of the ordinary. Marvelous means miraculous. I have seen that on my mission and in this week. I can feel that I'm part of something bigger than myself that is so important and miraculous.  God is so good-- I can't even explain! So many tender mercies this week and legit miracles. I'll try to be quick and tell you about as many as I can.    Joanna and Beverly We've done service for Joanna a few times before. My first time there, I asked if she wanted to meet with us and learn more about the church. She said no... but for some reason I was not convinced. She keeps talking about hard things going on in her life and that she's looking for hope. I went to visit her with Sister Hess this week to play a song on the violin. We got to talk to her and her mom, Beverly, and they are so sweet! Sister ...

I Know in Whom I Have Trusted

A few weeks ago, I was at a mission training meeting. A pretty new missionary asked a question about being scared/ feeling unnatural meeting new people and talking about the gospel. President Strong answered that with practice and experience those fears would go away and it would feel more natural and other, more experienced missionaries at the training said how they'd seen that in their missions.  I've been thinking a lot about this lately cause I've been a missionary for a while now, and it is still scary. I get nervous meeting new people and it is always terrifying to invite people to come closer to Christ. I am weak and this stuff is scary, but the quest of my mission is to not let that stop me.  This morning I read in 2 Nephi 4. It's Nephi talking about his sins and weakness and things that hold him back-- but then he says, "nevertheless, I know in whom I have trusted." My trust in God is what gets me to do scary things that matter. Faith will always ...

God's Hand

What a week!!! God is so good. Let me tell you a quick story about how God does his work.  Okay, there's this guy named Calvin who joined the church almost 4 years ago, but he hadn't been for a few years and no one knew what happened. We had his wrong phone number or address, and he didn't reply on Facebook, and we kind of gave up. Then, we've been spending more time on Facebook trying to share the gospel lately, and Sister Maxfield found a different profile for Calvin through a friend of a friend. We messaged him, and he ANSWERED! We had a video call with him, and he's a cool guy. Turns out he hadn't been coming to church cause he's a firefighter and travels and works Sundays and just lost contact with the church. We asked if he'd want to meet in someone's home for church Sunday evening after he got off work, and he said yes, if it was at Brother Isabell's house.  We were hyped, so right away, we went to call Brother Isabell. We have everyon...

God Is Good

Hello family!! Happy 2021!!! 🎉🎊🎉 I wanted to write you today to tell you that God is so good. Here's just one story of how I've seen that this week.  I LOVE teaching people the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is one of my favorite things in the whole world. It is so exciting to see people become converted to Jesus Christ and His gospel and change their lives because of it. Sister Maxfield and I have both been praying to be lead to people who will let God prevail on their lives so we can share our incredible message with more people. And God was too good to us this week. Let me tell you about 3 people God led to us this week: 1. Kari Kari has had a tough year. Her grandma is in a nursing home, so she hasn't been able to see her, she's had to work a lot, and she feels distant from God. She went to  comeuntochrist.org  and requested a free Bible. Yesterday, we brought her one and heard her story. She wants to come to church next Sunday, and we're going back this w...
