Ag Girl!

Hello! How are y'all? This week I went back to my agricultural roots. And let me tell you, I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life.  First, I'm coaching the Harrison FFA Meats team, and we had our first practice this week. I've spent lots of time sorting through piles of old tests from past FFA advisers, finding meat ID quizlets, and asking Mr. Noorda so many questions. And so far, it's going incredibly well. :) I have a team of 3 guys and they seem quite dedicated. They're going to memorize all the beef ID by Tuesday. Second, I harvested chickens. This incredible couple has chickens, and last time we were at their house, they were showing us how they harvest them, and Sister Kershaw was like, "Can we try?" So, we went over this week ready. I cut a chicken's throat and helped pluck them. I felt very triumphant.  In other news, business is booming. We have been so busy! Pretty much the same things as always, so not too ...

Prospering

Good morning! I miss y'all! This week was INCREDIBLE. Let me tell you the highlights. Okay, last Monday we were at home, resting before our crazy week to come, when we got a phone call from a number we don't know. We almost didn't answer it, but, luckily, we did! It was a member of our ward, and she told us that she has a friend, Nancy, who wants us to teach her. Hurray!!! We love it when that happens. :) So, the next day, we went over to teach her. It was amazing. She is so prepared and receptive. The gospel of Jesus Christ has brought me so much joy, and I loved to see the light in her eyes as we shared it with her. I'm so excited to continue visiting with her. Second miracle, Gene is getting baptized on February 1st!!! He quit coffee all on his own (He hasn't had headaches--MIRACLE!!) He stayed for Sunday School yesterday for the first time ever, and  loved  it. It was all about how Christ helps us through dark times, and afterwards Gene said that he wants...

Scripture Power

Good morning! This week has been incredible. Monday night after dinner, Sister Kershaw and I changed into pajamas and drove up to Springfield. We had conversation questions and Cadbury eggs, so we were living the good life on our road trip. We spent two nights with the sisters in Springfield. They made us yummy food, shared all kinds of wisdom, played bedtime stories for us, AND they have a gym in their apartment! I got so sore and was so happy. We also went to a meeting with lots of other missionaries and learned tons. Best thing ever, they had a competition on who had the cleanest car. And we WON!!!! So we each got $5. I was so pleased. We went to such a boozy car wash earlier this week to prepare, and it payed off!  Then we came back to our home. :) I love Harrison! So much happened! A big theme this week was the power of the scriptures. In church all over the world, we're studying the Book of Mormon this year. Starting the Book of Mormon again, it has really hit me h...

Detective Johnson

Good morning!!! I hope y'all are having a lovely day. This week has been quite exciting. First, exciting story. This lady from Nevada (my home!...Las Vegas though) called the Harrison ward and asked if someone could do a welfare check on her aunt and uncle. She hadn't heard from them in over a month, which wasn't like them, and she was worried. Naturally, the ward thinks of Sister Kershaw and I. We tried to call them and they didn't answer, so we travel to the address to investigate. I felt like I was the guy on Psych. It was a huge house out in the country, and it was completely empty. Looking through the windows there wasn't furniture or anything. We report to the niece, and she asks us to see if the neighbors know anything. We went around to all the houses, and finally a guy was able to help us--he told us they had moved to Iowa. So, hopefully the missionaries in Iowa are as good of detectives as we are. :) Besides being detectives, we've had a lo...
